(LEBANON, Ill., April 10)--The McKendree University baseball team will hit the road this weekend for an important Great Lakes Valley Conference four-game series at the University of Indianapolis. The Bearcats and Greyhounds will play doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday at UIndy's Greyhound Park, with first pitch slated for noon ET both days.

McKendree and Indianapolis are at opposite ends of a tightly-bunched GLVC East Division race, where just a five-game margin separates the eight teams in the division. The Bearcats, who are 7-21 overall this season, are tied for seventh place in the standings with Lewis University at 6-12. Indianapolis is just two games above the .500 mark for the year at 15-13, but the Greyhounds currently sit atop the division standings at 11-7. The series at Indianapolist kicks off the second half of the GLVC season for both programs.

On Tuesday, McKendree traveled to Quincy University, where it was defeated in both ends of a non-conference doubleheader against the Hawks by scores of 2-1 and 7-1. As a team, McKendree enters the weekend with a team batting average of .284, which is fourth among all squads in the GLVC East Division. Four starters are currently hitting above .300 for the year, led by a .365 average from freshman outfielder Brad Groleau (Peru, IL/St. Bede Academy). Sophomore infielder Tyson Boehne (Carlyle, IL/Carlyle) is next at .363 and has moved into second on the team in both hits (29) and runs scored (13). Boehne also bring a 15-game hit streak to Indianapolis, which is the Bearcats' longest of the 2015 season. That represents the longest hit streak for a McKendree player since Ronnie Calvird hit safely in 16 straight games during the 2012 campaign.

On the mound, junior left-hander Sam Lidisky (Swansea, IL/Althoff Catholic) added to his team-high total for wins with his third complete game of the season last Saturday against the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Lidisky scattered six hits and struck out five in posting an 8-1 win over the Rangers in game two of last weekend's series. Lidisky is 3-3 overall with a 2.63 earned-run average. Junior lefty Josh Tonozzi (Mark, IL/Putnam County) continues to be a workhorse in the bullpen for the Bearcats, appearing in a team-high 12 games so far in 2015. The season mark for most pitching appearances in a season was set by Matt Spotanski back in 2004.

Following the series at Indianapolis, McKendree will play its next six games at Hypes Field, beginning with a GLVC twinbill on Tuesday, April 14, against the University of Illinois Springfield.

ABOUT INDIANAPOLIS
As mentioned earlier, the Greyhounds lead the GLVC East Division with an 11-7 mark, while they are 15-13 overall. Indianapolis holds a one-game advantage over Bellarmine University in the divisional standings. After winning their series opener last weekend at the University of Southern Indiana, the Greyhounds dropped the last three contests to the Screaming Eagles, which are the last games played by UIndy. Zach Jacobs leads the way offensively for the Greyhounds with a .353 batting average. Sean McCracken, who is second on the squad at .340, leads UIndy with nine doubles, six home runs and 28 RBI. As a team, the Greyhounds come into their series versus McKendree with a .279 team batting average.

Matthew Kaplanis is a perfect 4-0 on the mound this season for Indianapolis. Jake Sprinkle also has four victories for the Greyhounds while pacing the squad with a 2.57 ERA in 35 innings of work with a pair of complete games. Brett Collins has pitched in 12 games -- all in relief -- for UIndy.

Last season, Indianapolis took three of four games from McKendree at Hypes Field. The Bearcats won the opener by a count of 8-4 before the Greyhounds bounced back to win the final three games and the series. Two years ago -- in McKendree's lone visit to Indianapolis as members of the GLVC -- the Bearcats won two of four games played at Greyhound Park.
