(LEBANON, Ill., April 17)--
The McKendree University baseball team will look to bounce back into the win column this weekend when Saint Joseph's College comes to Lebanon for a four-game Great Lakes Valley Conference series. The games were originally scheduled to be played Saturday and Sunday, but forecasted rain over the weekend has pushed the series up to a Friday/Saturday format. Both doubleheaders at Hypes Field will begin each day at noon.

McKendree enters the weekend with a 7-27 overall record and a 6-18 mark in GLVC play. The Bearcats last played on Tuesday, when they were edged in a conference twinbill by the University of Illinois Springfield. The final score for both games was 4-2. Outfielders Kyle Rutledge (Bloomington, IL/Normal) and Brad Groleau (Peru, IL/St. Bede Academy) each had three hits on the day, while third baseman Jake Kline (Carol Stream, IL/Glenbard North) hit safely in each contest. McKendree also received solid starting performances on the mound against the Prairie Stars. Right-hander Logan Zachry (Carlyle, IL/Carlyle) was one out shy of his first collegiate complete game in the opener, going 6 2/3 innings. He allowed four runs in six hits with three strikeouts in the effort. Left-hander Mitchell Langenhorst (Germantown, IL/Mater Dei) tossed the first five innings of the nightcap, giving up just one earned run with four hits and three strikeouts.

Groleau continues to pace the Bearcats' offensive attack with a .353 batting average. He is tied with first baseman Zach Klockowski (Tinley Park, IL/Andrew) for the team lead in home runs with two. Rutledge (.308), second baseman Tyson Boehne (Carlyle, IL/Carlyle) (.305) and shortstop Adam Kunkel (Red Bud, IL/Red Bud) (.303) are all hitting above .300 for McKendree. Left-hander Sam Lidisky (Swansea, IL/Althoff Catholic) leads the pitching staff with three victories and four complete games on the season. Lidisky's 2.89 earned-run average is also tops among the Bearcats' starting rotation. Left-hander Josh Tonozzi (Mark, IL/Putnam County) has boosted his team-high mark for appearances on the mound to 15.

Following the weekend series with Saint Joseph's, McKendree will be on the road for its next five games, beginning with a non-conference tilt Tuesday at Maryville University.

Saint Joseph's is 15th in the GLVC with a .260 batting average, but it leads the conference in earned-run average at 3.10. Senior Jordan Peterson tops the Pumas' rotation with a 2.30 ERA, while sophomore Robert Kametas has come out of the bullpen to register a team-leading four victories.
