Box Score (LEBANON, Ill., April 24)- The McKendree University women's lacrosse team won its home finale on Friday, 20-5, over Ursuline College to secure a five-seed in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament.
The Bearcats improve to 10-5 overall and 3-4 in the GLIAC, and will travel to Saint Charles, Mo., on Saturday, April 25 for the regular season finale at No. 4 Lindenwood University at 9 a.m.
Rianne Holzmeyer (Hazelwood, Mo./Hazelwood West) and
Victoria Lelo (Auckland, New Zealand/Westlake) each had a game-high five goals, while Mia FIore added four goals.
Paige Salthouse (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy) scored three goals, and
Dana DiPasquale (St. Charles, Mo./Barat Academy) and
Morgan Cremen (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) had two goals and one goal, respectively. DiPasquale, Cremen and
Hannah Schneider (Ellisville, Mo./Lafayette) all had two assists, and
Janelle Woods (Hazelwood, Mo./Hazelwood West) had a team-high four caused turnovers and four ground balls. Prior to the game, McKendree honored seniors
Sadie Delashmit (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington) and
Nicki Alwan (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria Community) during senior day festivities. Both had one caused turnover and one ground ball in the win.
Amy Porta (Ellisville, Mo./Marquette) improved to 10-5 with the win and had four saves.
The Bearcats jumped out to a 7-0 lead before the Arrows responded with three goals to cut the score to 7-3. McKendree added three more goals to extend its lead to 10-3, but Ursuline scored back-to-back goals to cut its deficit to 10-5. The Bearcats scored the final 10 goals of the game to cruise to the 20-5 win.
