Box Score (ALLENDALE, Mich., May 1)- The McKendree University women's lacrosse team had its season come to an end on Friday night in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament semifinals to No. 16 Grand Valley State University 18-4.
The Bearcats end their season with an overall record of 11-7, setting a new program record for wins in a season.
Freshman
Paige Salthouse (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy) led McKendree with two goals, while
Bree Suter (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) and
Rianne Holzmeyer (Hazelwood, Mo./Hazelwood West) each had one goal.
Morgan Cremen (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) and
Dana DiPasquale (St. Charles, Mo./Barat Academy) each had one assist, while
Janelle Woods (Hazelwood, Mo./Hazelwood West) had a team-high four ground balls.
Amy Porta (Ellisville, Mo./Marquette) ended the season with a record of 11-7 and had 14 saves in the loss.
McKendree was held scoreless in the first half, but started the second half with back-to-back goals from Holzmeyer and Salthouse to cut the deficit to 9-2. The host Lakers extended the lead to 15-2, but Salthouse struck again to make the score 15-3. Suter added the fourth and final goal for the Bearcats on a free position shot with 10:35 left in the game.
