(LEBANON, Ill., Sep. 11)- The McKendree University women's soccer team lost its Great Lakes Valley Conference opener on Friday to No. 18 Bellarmine University 1-0.

The Bearcats fall to 1-1-1 overall and 0-1 in the GLVC, and will travel to Evansville, Ind., on Sunday, Sep. 13 to face University of Southern Indiana at 12 p.m.

McKendree kept pressure on the Knights throughout the first half, outshooting the visitors 10-4 in the opening period, but were unable to put points on the board. Bellarmine held a 7-2 shot advantage in the second half, and scored the only goal of the contest in the 84th minute to take a 1-0 lead and held on for the win.

Senior goalkeeper Taylor Zerbe (St. Louis, Mo./Trinity Catholic) grabbed five saves and fell to 1-1-1 overall on the season in the loss.
