(EVANSVILLE, Ind., Sep. 13)- A goal by senior Alyssa Patterson (Troy, Ill./Triad) in the 95th minute led the McKendree University women's soccer team to its first Great Lakes Valley Conference win of the season on Sunday at University of Southern Indiana.

The Bearcats improve to 2-1-1 overall and 1-1 in the GLVC, and will host William Jewell College on Friday, Sep. 19 for a conference match at 5 p.m.

The Eagles struck first in the contest with a goal in the 30th minute to take a 1-0 lead, but McKendree countered and tied the game, 1-1, in the 43rd minute on a goal by sophomore Abby Stutz (Godfrey, Ill./Alton) off a double assist by freshman Andrea Dorantes (Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico/ITESM) and Patterson. In the second half, the Bearcats dialed up the offensive pressure, outshooting the hosts 10-5 and being called offside five times, but were unable to take the lead to send the game to overtime.

Patterson ended the contest in the first overtime with her goal on a pass from Jessica Smugala (Imperial, Mo./Seckman). The goal was Patterson's second of the season.

Senior goalkeeper Taylor Zerbe (St. Louis, Mo./Trinity Catholic) grabbed five saves and improved to 2-1-1 overall in goal this season with the win.
