Kacey Johnson (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central) matched her career-high and led all players with 18 points on Saturday in a 70-54 loss at No. 19 Quincy University.
The Bearcats fell to 6-9 overall and 1-4 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, and will host William Jewell College on Thursday, January 14 at 5:30 p.m.
Johnson's 18 points matched her career-high set on December 12 in a 77-62 win at University of Illinois Springfield. Sophomore
Shauniera Wilson (Springfield, Ill./Southeast) also tallied a career-high with 10 points in the loss.
McKendree used an early 8-0 run to take a 12-8 lead with 4:44 left in the first quarter. The Lady Hawks bounced back and held a 19-14 lead at the end of the period. A layup by Wilson cut the deficit to 26-20 with 5:23 left before the half, and McKendree went into the break trailing 37-29.
A jumper by Johnson brought the Bearcats to within 10, 47-37, with 3:29 left in the third quarter, but McKendree was unable to cut the game to single-digits in the final quarter to fall 70-54.
Anika Webster led Quincy with 15 points.
