Box Score (St. Louis, Mo., Oct. 11) – The McKendree University men's soccer team dropped a 4-0 contest against Maryville University. The Bearcats are now 2-6-2 overall, and 1-6-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC).
The Saints would control the contest as they outshot the Bearcats 9-7 and put six of those shots on goal compared to the Bearcats one.
Sander Heieren would open scoring for the Saints as he tallied the first goal of the contest in the 11
th minute of play.
Coming out of the half, in the 46
th minute, the Saints would increase the lead to 2-0 as Helmut Florencia scored his sixth goal of the season.
In the 67
th minute, Herieren would score his second goal of the match to increase the Saints lead to 3-0.
In the 80
th minute, Chris Naunheim would add another to cap the lead at 4-0.
In net for the Bearcats was a combination of
Eddie Starr (Columbia, IL/Columbia ) and
Ian Bender (Edwardsville, IL/Scott Gallagher Academy). Starr collected one save on the day while allowing three goals. Bender would allow one goal and collect one save.
The Bearcats are back in action on Friday when they travel to Rockhurst University for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
