(Springfield, Ill., Oct. 26) – The McKendree University women's soccer team improved to 14-4 overall, and 11-4 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) as they defeated University of Illinois Springfield in a 1-0 contest.
With the Bearcats' win today and the Bellarmine University tie to University of Southern Indiana. McKendree has secured the number four seed in the GLVC standings.
The Bearcats outshot the Prairie Stars 15-7 in the contest.
In the 21st minute of play, Alyssa Reiniger (Maryville, IL/Collinsville) would net the lone goal of the contest as she found the back of the net coming from a string of Bearcat passes inside the offensive zone. Amanda Williams (Rochester, IL/Rochester) and Liz Kaiser (St. Louis, MO/Ursuline) would be credited on the assist.
In net for McKendree was Zoe Brochu (Ajax, Ontario, Canada/Pickering ). Brochu collected four saves during the contest along with her ninth shutout of the 2016 season.
The Bearcats are back in action on Sunday, Oct. 30 at noon as they will host Bellarmine University in the Quarterfinal GLVC Tournament match-up
