(Lebanon, Ill., Oct. 30) – The McKendree University women's soccer team improved to 15-4 overall as it defeated Bellarmine University 1-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament quarterfinal match Sunday at Leemon Field.

McKendree advances to the GLVC Tournament semifinal round for the first time since joining the GLVC in 2012. The Bearcats are back in action on Nov. 4 as they travel to Carroll Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana for the GLVC Tournament semifinal round match against Truman State University. Time is to be determined.

Sydnee Carroll (Millstadt, IL/Belleville West) put the Bearcats on the board in the 72^nd minute of play as she put together an end-to-end rush over 60 yards to find the back of the net for her 16^th goal of the season. Liz Kaiser (St. Louis, MO/Ursuline) was credited with the assist on the play. This goal would prove to be the game-winner and Carroll's ninth of the season.

The Bearcats would hold the advantage in the contest as they outshot the Knights 15-7. Amanda Williams (Rochester, IL/Rochester) totaled a game-high five shots, with two being on goal.

Zoe Brochu (Ajax, Ontario, Canada/Pickering ) stopped two shots in goal for McKendree against Bellarmine, and recorded her 10^th shut of the 2016 campaign.
Bellarmine goalkeeper Hannah Poteet would hold McKendree scoreless heading into the half with four saves during the first. Poteet collected six saves during the match.
