(Quincy, Ill., Nov. 12) – The McKendree University women's soccer team will continue its chase for its first NCAA Tournament crown on Sunday, November 13 at Legends Stadium in Quincy, Illinois at noon as they take on Truman State University in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
 
The Bearcats continue to add program firsts to the record books as with each win comes a new accomplishment. The list of accolades for the team continues to grow as they have captured a Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Tournament title, a NCAA Tournament win, and a GLVC Offensive Player of the Year award in sophomore Sydnee Carroll (Millstadt, IL/Belleville West), all program firsts. This match will be McKendree's first appearance into the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
 
The Bearcats will look to continue their hot streak as they are on an eight game unbeaten streak. During this span they are 7-0-1. The tie was a result of the GLVC Tournament semifinal match in which McKendree advanced to the championship match 4-1 on penalty kicks over Truman State.
 
Scouting the Bulldogs: This match marks the third meeting of McKendree and Truman State on the 2016 campaign. McKendree is currently 0-1-1 against Truman this season, suffering its only home loss of the 2016 season against the Bulldogs. Truman's defense led by GLVC Defensive Player of the Year Katie Mattingly has allowed five goals this season. The Bulldogs are ranked second in the Nation in save percentage at 0.932. The Nationally ranked defense is third in the nation in goals-against average at 0.251 goals per game and shutout percentage at 0.789 per game.
 
First Meeting: Earlier this season, on Sept. 10, Truman State delivered the Bearcats their only home loss of the 2016 campaign in a 1-0 contest. In the match, McKendree outshot Truman 12-10. In the 82nd minute of play, Laura Ney broke the ice as she headed a ball into the back of the net. McKendree put together a late rush with shots coming from Alyssa Reiniger (Maryville, IL/Collinsville) and Sydnee Carroll (Millstadt, IL/Belleville West) however, the Bulldog defense held strong.
 
Second Meeting: In the GLVC Tournament semifinal match, on Nov. 4 the Bearcats knocked the reigning GLVC Tournament champions, Truman State, out of the tournament in a 4-1 penalty kick shootout. Freshman goalkeeper Zoe Brochu (Ajax, Ontario, Canada/Pickering ) would make two saves to help McKendree advance to the GLVC championship match in which McKendree defeated Rockhurst University 2-1 in overtime.

The winner of the McKendree, Truman State match will go on to play the winner of the Grand Valley State University, University of Missouri-St. Louis match at a time and place to be determined.
