Emily Pusheck (South Milwaukee, Wis./South Milwaukee) matched her career-high with 18 points on Thursday night to help the McKendree University women's basketball team to a 60-42 win over Missouri S&T.
The Bearcats improve to 11-13 overall and 6-8 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, and will host No. 12 Drury University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Pusheck's 18 points led all players in the game and senior guard
Kelsee Ennis (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South) added 11 points in the win, while freshman forward
Jordan Morton (Olathe, Kan./Olathe South) led all players with nine rebounds.
The Bearcats took their largest lead of the first quarter, 12-9, on a jumper by Pusheck with 1:07 left, but McKendree blew the game open in the second quarter with a 9-0 run to start the period to widen the lead to 21-11 with 6:12 left until the half. The Lady Miners answered and outscored the Bearcats, 8-2, to cut the score to 23-19 at the half.
Missouri S&T cut their deficit to one on two occasions, but McKendree wouldn't be rattled and remained in the lead and took a 39-31 lead into the fourth quarter. The Bearcats took their first double-digit lead since the second quarter, 49-39, with 6:01 left in the fourth quarter and led by as many as 19 down the stretch before coming away with a 60-42 win.
Jamy Douvier led Missouri S&T with 12 points in the loss.
