Box Score (PUEBLO, Colo., March 16)- The McKendree University women's lacrosse team lost 12-8 at University of Colorado-Pueblo on Wednesday.
The Bearcats drop to 2-2 overall and will travel to Denver, Colo., to play Regis Universty on Thursday, March 17 at 4 p.m.
Rianne Holzmeyer (Hazelwood, Mo./Hazelwood West) led McKendree with three goals, while
Bree Suter (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) and Ma Fiore each had two goals.
Hannah Sugarman (Holden, Mass./Wachusett Regional High School) also added one goal. Fiore and
Dana DiPasquale (St. Charles, Mo./Barat Academy) each had two assists, and Fiore also added two draw controls.
Amy Porta (Ellisville, Mo./Marquette) fell to 2-2 overall and had 13 saves in the loss
The teams traded goals to tie the game, 2-2, halfway through the first half before the Thunderwolves took a 3-2 lead wth 8:40 left in the period. The Bearcats scored two goals before the half, by Sugarman with 4:29 left and Holzmeyer with 2:50 left, to lead 4-3 at the half.
CSU-Pueblo opened the second half with two goals to take a 5-4 lead, before Fiore scored to tie the game, 5-5, with 24:09 left in the game. The Thunderwolves scored four goals to take a 9-5 lead, but McKendree cut the deficit to 9-7 with goals from Holzmeyer and Suter. The hosts scored three-straight goals to extend their lead to 12-7, but the Bearcats could only score one more goal, and fell 12-8.
