Box Score (DENVER, Colo., March 17)- The McKendree University women's lacrosse team lost the final game of its spring break road trip at No. 16 Regis University (Colo.) 15-5.
The Bearcats fall to 2-3 overall and will host University of Indianapolis in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Tuesday, March 22 at 4 p.m.
Hannah Sugarman (Holden, Mass./Wachusett Regional High School) led McKendree with two goals, while
Paige Salthouse (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy),
Rianne Holzmeyer (Hazelwood, Mo./Hazelwood West) and
Emily Nelson (Deephaven, Minn./Holy Family Catholic) all had one goal. Salthouse also tallied one assist in the contest.
Amy Porta (Ellisville, Mo./Marquette) fell to 2-3 overall and made 13 saves in the loss.
The Bearcats scored their first goal of the game just over 10 minutes into the game on a goal by Salthouse that cut the deficit to 3-1. Regis scored the next three goals, before Sugarman scored her first goal of the game with 3:08 left in the half. The Rangers scored two more goals before the half to lead 8-2 at the break, and opened the second half with four goals to extend their lead to 12-2. Sugarman scored her second goal with 15:06 left to make the score 12-3, but Regis pushed the lead back to 10, 13-3, with 13:41 remaining. Holzmeyer and Nelson both scored with under five remaining, but the Rangers added two more goals before the final horn to finish the game 15-5.
