(LEBANON, Ill., Sept. 10) The McKendree University women's soccer team had their first setback of the 2016 campaign with their 1-0 loss against Truman State University.                     

The first half ended scoreless despite the Bearcats out shooting the Bulldogs seven to one. Truman State goalkeeper Katie Mattingly collected a total of three saves in the half.

The stalemate would eventually be broken up by Laura Ney as she found the back of the net on a header off of a header pass from Allison Lockett in the 81^st minute of the contest. The Bearcats put together a late rush with shots coming from Alyssa Reininger and Sydnee Carroll (Millstadt, IL/Belleville West) however, the Bulldog defense held strong.

In net for the Bearcats was Zoe Brochu (Ajax, Ontario, Canada/Pickering ), who collected a total of five saves on the day.

The Bearcats will wrap up the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) opening weekend on Sunday at noon when they take on Quincy University at Leemon Field.
