(LEBANON, Ill., Sept. 23) – The McKendree University women's soccer team improved to 5-2 on the 2016 season, and 3-2-0 in the GLVC as they defeated University of Indianapolis in a 1-0 contest.

Late in the first period, Sydnee Carroll (Millstadt, IL/Belleville West) netted her fifth goal of the season to put the Bearcats on the board. Chelsea Whittaker (Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand/St Hilda's Collegiate School) was credited with the assist on the play, her fifth of the season.

The lone goal would prove to be the difference maker in the contest, as the Greyhounds were not able to find the back of the net.

Danielle Hareb (Flatbush, New Zealand/Mount Albert) led the offensive charge for the Bearcats taking a game high six shots.

The Bearcat defense, proved strong as they held the Greyhounds to nine shots on the day. In net for the Bearcats was Zoe Brochu (Ajax, Ontario, Canada/Pickering ), who collected four saves on the day.

The Bearcats are back in action on Sunday at Leemon Field when they take on Saint Joseph's College at noon.
