Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Defeats Saint Joseph's 5-1

(Lebanon, Ill., Sept. 25) – The McKendree University Women's soccer team improved to 6-2 overall, and 4-2 in the GLVC on the 2016 campaign as they defeated Saint Joseph's College in a 5-1 contest.

The first half of the contest was controlled by the Bearcats as they outshot the Pumas 19-2. Goalkeeper Melissa Kuhar stood tall as she collected seven saves in the half.

Sydnee Carroll (Millstadt, IL/Belleville West) led the charge for the Bearcats in the second half as they unleashed a fury of goals to take the lead. Carroll netted the first goal of the contest off of an Amanda Williams (Rochester, IL/Rochester) pass. In the 50th minute, Chelsea Whittaker (Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand/St Hilda's Collegiate School) scored her first goal of the season coming off of an Alyssa Reininger throw in. Danielle Hareb (Flatbush, New Zealand/Mount Albert) joined the scoring party as she found the back of the net coming on Sydnee Carroll (Millstadt, IL/Belleville West)'s second assist of the game.

Jackie Greenawalt got the Pumas on the score board as she netted an unassisted goal.

In the 74th minute, Carroll would score her second goal of the game coming from a pass off the foot of Danielle Hareb (Flatbush, New Zealand/Mount Albert). Whittaker would increase the lead to 5-1 as she scored her second of the day on a touch pass from Brooke Coakley (Granite City, IL/Granite City).

In net for the Bearcats was Zoe Brochu (Ajax, Ontario, Canada/Pickering ). Brochu had a calm day only seeing three shots on the day with one being on net.

The Bearcats hit the road next weekend when they travel to Lewis University on Friday, September 30 for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
