(LEBANON, Ill., Sept. 4) The McKendree University women's soccer team improved to 2-0 with its win against Oakland City University on Sunday afternoon.
The Bearcats opened the scoring and never looked back.
The Bearcats unleashed a fury which led to four goals in a span of two minutes.
Rachel Kaltwasser (Belleville, IL/Althoff Catholic) got McKendree on the board first as she netted a goal off of a
Chelsea Whittaker (Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand/St Hilda's Collegiate School) pass. One minute later, Kaltwasser found the back of the net again off of a
Danielle Hareb (Flatbush, New Zealand/Mount Albert) assist. The Bearcats struck again 21 seconds later when
Sydnee Carroll (Millstadt, IL/Belleville West) pushed through the Mighty Oak defense to find the back off the net. Carroll scored a second time shortly after off of a Whittaker assist.
In the second period the Bearcats tallied seven goals.
Liz Kaiser (St. Louis, MO/Ursuline) started the offensive explosion with a goal off of a touch pass from Carroll. Shortly after,
Danielle Hareb (Flatbush, New Zealand/Mount Albert) found the back of the net off of an assist from Whittaker.
Molly Kovarik (St. Louis, MO/St. Pius) joined the scoring party in the 54
th minute as she netted a goal from a pass off the foot of
Ashleigh Briggs (Granite City, IL/Granite City). In the 61
st minute,
Madyson Mossman (St. Louis, MO/Ursuline Academy) scored her first Bearcat goal off of an
Andrea Dorantes (Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico/ITESM) assist.
Amanda Williams (Rochester, IL/Rochester) grabbed her first goal of the season from another Whittaker assist. Kaltwasser scored her third of the game coming off an
Ashley Volk (Victoria, British Columbia, Canada/Pacific Christian School) pass. In the final minutes,
Rachel Ford (Trenton, IL/Wesclin) scored off of a Kaltwasser assist.
Zoe Brochu (Ajax, Ontario, Canada/Pickering ) and
Maddie Shea (Racine, WI/St. Catherines) split time in net, with Brochu recording one save.
The Bearcats return home for their conference opener Friday, September 9 at 5 p.m. as they take on Truman State.
