(Lebanon, Ill., October 11) – The McKendree University women's soccer team is set for a Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) weekend out west when the team travels to Rockhurst University and Drury University.
Earlier this week, the United Soccer Coaches (USC) released its NCAA DII National Rankings that featured the Bearcats in the No. 19 spot. GLVC foe Quincy, who the Bearcats lost to 1-0 earlier this season, moved down one spot to No. 15.
The Bearcats
McKendree heads into week seven of the 2017 slate second in the conference standings, behind Quincy.
Sydnee Carroll (Millstadt, IL/Belleville West) leads GLVC categories in points (19), goals (7), and is tied in second in assists (5).
Alynnah O'Leary (Collinsville, IL/Collinsville ) and
Madyson Mossman (St. Louis, MO/Ursuline Academy) both contribute to the Bearcat offense adding each points each. GLVC Defensive Player of the Week,
Zoe Brochu (Ajax, Ontario, Canada/Pickering) boasts a conference leading .939 save percentage while adding seven shutouts on the 2017 campaign.
The Hawks
Rockhurst enters the weekend looking to gain ground in the GLVC standings as they currently sit twelfth in the rankings. Last season, the Hawks advanced to the GLVC Tournament Championship game, which McKendree defeated Rockhurst 2-1 in overtime. This season, Kaley Nieters who adds 11 points on three goals and five assists leads the offensive unit. Rosie Breheny has played majority of time in net posting a .780 save percentage.
The Panthers
Drury enters the weekend a spot above Rockhurst in the conference standings at eleventh. The Panthers offense is led by Kerri Morris and Gabby Menendez both contribute four goals while Morris adds three assists to the squad. Tina Haberberger has started all 11 games in net posting a .838 save percentage along with four shutouts.
