(Lebanon, Ill., October 8) – The No. 19 McKendree University women's soccer team improved to 9-1-2 overall and 6-1-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) as they picked up a 1-0 victory over the William Jewell Cardinals this afternoon.

The Cardinals outshot the Bearcats 19-13 in the contest but McKendree held the advantage in shots on goal 9-8.

In the 76 minute of play Chelsea Whittaker (Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand/St Hilda's Collegiate School) played a ball to Kate Bixby (O'Fallon, MO/Fort Zumwalt North) who was able to find the back of the net to seal the deal for the Bearcats.

Zoe Brochu (Ajax, Ontario, Canada/Pickering) was tested multiple times collecting eight saves and her seventh shutout of the 2017 campaign.

The women's soccer team is back in action on Friday, October 13 when the team travels to Rockhurst University for a 5 p.m. contest.
