(Lebanon, Ill., November 9) – The McKendree University women's soccer team is set for their first round match of the NCAA Tournament as the team is scheduled to play Ohio Dominican University Friday, at 2 p.m. ET in Allendale, Michigan.
The Bearcats
McKendree heads into the match at 15-2-3 overall and as the GLVC Champions after their 3-0 victory over then No. 5 Quincy University. McKendree's defensive unit led by goalkeeper Zoe Brochu is ranked seventh in NCAA Division II in goals against average at .424 with just nine total goals allowed in 2017. In net Brochu posts a .919 save percentage which is sixth in the DII. Offensively, Sydnee Carroll and Alynnah O'Leary power the Bearcat offense combining for 17 of the teams 33 goals. Key midfield play from Liz Kaiser, Jane Skaggs, and Kate Bixby assist on the defensive end as well as offensively.
The Panthers
Lauren Bates leads the way for the Ohio Dominican offense netting 15 goals on the 2017 campaign. Becca Gordon and Alli Pavlik both add 21 points on nine goals and three helpers. The Panthers defense is led by Marissa Wierzbicki who has started all 21 games in net posting .798 save percentage.
Tournament Implications
The winner of the match will move on to play Grand Valley State University (GVSU) on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on the campus of GVSU in Allendale, MI.
