(PROVIDENCE, RI., Feb. 3) - The McKendree University women's water polo team played their first game of the inaugural season against Brown University in the Bruno Invite. The Bearcats fell by a score of 13-4 in the contest.
The Bearcats were held scoreless through the first quarter, as Brown found the back of the net six times to take a 6-0 lead into the second quarter. In the second quarter, the Bearcats got their first goal from freshman attacker
Brianna Mullalley (Chula Vista, CA/Eastlake High School). However, Brown would go on to add three more to hold a 9-1 lead at halftime. The third quarter saw another goal from the Bearcats as freshman attacker Catie Young. Brown scored once in the quarter to continue to hold a lead over the Bearcats. The fourth quarter saw two goals from McKendree, with the first coming from freshman
Victoria Jones (Lodi, CA/Tokay High School) with the man advantage. The second goal of the quarter for the Bearcats was scored by Mullalley. The Bearcats goals wouldn't be enough to come back against Brown, eventually falling by a final score of 13-4.
McKendree is back in action on Saturday with two more games in the Bruno Invite. The Bearcats take on Hartwick College at 12:40 p.m. EST and then play their second game of the day against Bucknell University at 7:40 p.m.
