(LEBANON, Ill., Feb. 10) – The No. 13 McKendree University women's hockey program heads back on the road for their final road games of their inaugural season. The Bearcats will face the No. 7 University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minn. to close out their regular season with the first game of the series on Saturday at 6 p.m., and the second game on Sunday at 10 a.m.
The Bearcats enter the weekend ranked No.13 with an overall record of 10-13. The Golden Gophers head into the weekend ranked No. 7 with an overall record of 14-2-2. This will be the first time the two teams go head-to-head.
Leading the Bearcats in points is freshman forward
Lara Wentz (Bismark, ND) with 11 goals and five assists totaling 16 points. Freshman defenseman
Delayne Ivanowski (Kirkwood, MO/Kirkwood) leads the Bearcats in assists with ten, along with five goals for 15 points. Rounding out the top five point getters are freshman forwards
Alyssa Albee (Brookfield, WI/Brookfield Central) with 11 points, along with
Kaleigh Slisz (Chicago, IL/Marist) and
Keisha Johnson (Clearwater, BC) with 9 points each.
In goal for the Bearcats are three talented goalkeepers
Jazmin Malinowski (New Lenox, IL/Lincoln-Way) leading with one shutout and a .910 save percentage,
Abbey Anderson (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) has recorded one shutout and has a .913 save percentage, and Halyee Gannaway who has played in the most games at 13 with one shutout and a save percentage of .896.
