(LEBANON, Ill., Mar. 2) – The McKendree University women's water polo team heads to Claremont, Calif. to compete in the 2017 Convergence Water Polo Tournament on Saturday and Sunday. The Bearcats will play four games across the two days including matches against Concordia, Occidental, Cal Baptist, and Azusa Pacific. On Sunday, McKendree will take on the University of Redlands for an additional matchup on the road trip.
The Bearcats first take on Concordia University at Haldeman Pool on Friday at 1:45 p.m. PST. McKendree is back in action again on Friday to take on Occidental College at 5:30 p.m. PST, again at Haldeman Pool. Saturday the Bearcats hit Axelrood Pool at 10:30 a.m. PST for a game against Cal Baptist. The final contest of the Convergence Tournament for McKendree comes against Azusa Pacific University at 2:15 p.m. PST at Axelrood Pool. Sunday, the Bearcats head to Redlands, Calif. to play the University of Redlands at 1 p.m. PST before returning home.
McKendree has a record of 3-8 overall, with a record of 3-1 against fellow Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Midwest Division club teams. The Bearcats are still searching for their first win against CWPA Varsity level teams this season.
Leading the Bearcats in scoring this season has been freshman attacker
Brianna Mullalley (Chula Vista, CA/Eastlake High School) with 22 goals and five assists. Just behind her is freshman attacker
Victoria Jones (Lodi, CA/Tokay High School) with 18 goals and one assist, junior attacker
Sabrina Sherrin (San Jose, CA/West Valley Junior College) with 14 goals and three assists, and sophomore attacker
Jillian Hoffman (Prospect Heights, IL) with 12 goals and six assists. On the other side of the ball, freshman center defender
Tiana Wilson ( Orange County, CA/Mt. San Antonio College) has racked up 44 steals and three assists. Freshman goaltenders
Gabby Madewell (Portland, OR/Parkrose High School) and
Kim Fay (Lake Oswego, OR) have split time in the net this season, with a combined 62 blocks and 20 steals.
