Indianapolis, Ind., April 15) – The McKendree University women's lacrosse team improved to 8-4 overall and 4-0 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) as they defeated the University of Indianapolis 12-10 this afternoon.
McKendree and Indianapolis went at each other the entire contest as there were 8 lead changes and 7 ties. The Bearcats outshot the Greyhounds 22-21 in a stalemate of a match-up. McKendree held an 18-17 shots on goal advantage along with a 7-6 save advantage.
Victoria Lelo (Auckland, New Zealand/Westlake) paced the way for the offense as she tallied a team high four goals.
Dana DiPasquale (St. Charles, MO/Barat Academy) and
Bree Suter (Westminster, MD/Winters Mill) added three while
Hannah Sugarman (Holden, MA/Wachusett Regional ) contributed two.
Paige Salthouse (St. Louis, MO/Ursuline Academy) chipped into the offensive production with two assists.
Emily Nelson (Deephaven, MN/Holy Family Catholic) and DiPasquale added one helper of their own.
Defensively,
Amy Porta (Ellisville, MO/Marquette) collected the win between the pipes grabbing seven saves on 17 shots faced. Lelo collected a game high six draw controls while Salthouse added a game high three groundballs.
The women's lacrosse team is back in action on Thursday, April 20 at 7 p.m. as it welcomes Oklahoma Baptist University to Leemon Field.
