(Lebanon, Ill., April 28) – The McKendree University women's lacrosse team improved to 10-5 overall and 5-1 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) as they coasted past University of Findlay 19-10 this afternoon.
After a series of lightning strikes delayed the start time of the game, McKendree came out of the break well rested. The Bearcat offense totaled 50 shots putting 36 on cage. Despite losing the draw control battle 16-14, McKendree gathered extra positions winning the groundball war 23-14.
Dana DiPasquale (St. Charles, MO/Barat Academy) sparked the offensive explosion for McKendree tallying eight points on six assists and two goals.
Paige Salthouse (St. Louis, MO/Ursuline Academy) totaled five points, dropping three goals and two assists.
Bree Suter (Westminster, MD/Winters Mill) notched a team high four goals, as
Emily Nelson (Deephaven, MN/Holy Family Catholic) and
Victoria Lelo (Auckland, New Zealand/Westlake) added hat tricks.
Defensively,
Amy Porta (Ellisville, MO/Marquette) stood strong in cage collecting 12 saves on 22 shots faced. Lelo forced three turnovers, putting extra balls on the turf for the Bearcats, as
Ola Abdallah (Florissant, MO/Hazelwood West) scooped a game high four groundballs.
Stacey Wright (Whangarei, New Zealand/Westlake Girls ) added a team high four draw controls.
The women's lacrosse team is back in action on Sunday, April 30 for senior day as the team hosts Tiffin University. Draw time is scheduled for noon.
