(Huntsville, Ala., August 31) --  The McKendree University women's soccer team kicked off the 2017 regular season campaign on the right foot as they notched a 1-0 victory over The University of Alabama in Huntsville this afternoon.

The Bearcats outshot the Chargers 20-8 in the contest putting 11 shots on net.

Freshman Alynnah O'Leary (Collinsville, IL/Collinsville ) tallied her first collegiate goal 22 minutes into the contest off a pass from teammate Sydnee Carroll (Millstadt, IL/Belleville West).

Sophomore goaltender Zoe Brochu (Ajax, Ontario, Canada/Pickering) collected her first shutout of the 2017 campaign stopping four shots.

The McKendree University women's soccer team is back in action on Sunday, September 3 at 6 p.m. as it hosts Kentucky Wesleyan College.
