(Lebanon, Ill., September 10) -- The McKendree University men's soccer team fell to 1-1 on the 2017 campaign as they opened up Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) play with a 3-0 loss to University of Missouri-St. Louis this evening.

The Tritons outshot McKendree 16-6 putting six shots on frame in the contest. Fredrik Hansen (Oslo, Norway/Persbraaten Videregaaende Skole) paced the way offensively for the Bearcats as he had a team high two shots.

Early in the first, Ian Bender (Edwardsville, IL/Scott Gallagher Academy) denied 2016 Second-Team All-GLVC Forward Pat Ries on the doorstep however surrendered a rebound, which the Tritons cashed in for a 1-0 lead.  

Missouri-St. Louis would add goals in the 19 and 85 minutes of play to take and hold a 3-0 victory.

Bender collected three saves on the day in 80:05 minutes of play.

The men's soccer team is back in action on Tuesday as the Bearcats travel to Oakland City University for a 3 p.m. contest.
