(Lebanon, Ill., September 24) – The McKendree University women's soccer improved to 6-0-1 overall and 4-0-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) as they defeated Lewis University 4-0 this afternoon.

The contest featured an offensive outburst from the Bearcats netting four goals on 15 shots.

In the 34 minute of play Grace Neidhardt (Granite City, IL/Granite City ) found the back of the net on a Liz Kaiser (St. Louis, MO/Ursuline) free kick from just outside the box to spark an early 1-0 lead.

Two minutes into the second half Emma Dering (Hazelwood, MO/Duchesne) connected with Sydnee Carroll (Millstadt, IL/Belleville West) who was able to increase the Bearcat lead to 2-0.

Alynnah O'Leary (Collinsville, IL/Collinsville ) added to the McKendree lead finishing on a coast to coast rush that Carroll assisted on at 60:06.

The Bearcats would ice the game 4-0 in the 71 minute as Carroll added her second goal of the game on a penalty kick.

In net for McKendree was Zoe Brochu (Ajax, Ontario, Canada/Pickering) who picked up her fourth shutout of the season collecting six saves.

The women's soccer team is back in action on Friday, September 29 at 7:30 p.m. when the team travels to the University of Illinois-Springfield.
