(Springfield, Ill., September 29) – The No. 18 McKendree University women's soccer team improved to 7-0-1 overall and 5-0-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) as they defeated the University of Illinois-Springfield in a 1-0 contest this evening.

The Prairie Stars held tight with the Bearcats both posting nine shots in the match. McKendree did hold the advantage putting five on net to UIS's three.

The Bearcats jumped out to an early 1-0 led in the 14 minute of play when Jane Skaggs (St. Charles, MO/Duchesne ) was able to find the back of the net on a ricocheted ball.

Zoe Brochu (Ajax, Ontario, Canada/Pickering) played all 90 minutes in net for McKendree collecting her fifth shutout on three saves.

The women's soccer team is back in action on Sunday at noon when the team travels to No. 18 Quincy University for GLVC contest featuring the top ranked teams of the league.
