(Lebanon, Ill., September 28) – The McKendree University men's soccer team gears up for week five of the 2017 schedule with two Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) contests on the road as the team travels to University of Illinois-Springfield and Quincy University.
The Bearcats
McKendree heads into the weekend looking to pick up its first GLVC win of the 2017 campaign.
Gonzalo Correa (Santiago, Chile/Athletic Study Center) paces the McKendree offense with a team leading three goals.
Fredrik Hansen (Oslo, Norway/Persbraaten Videregaaende Skole) adds to the offensive production with a game-winning penalty kick from the Oakland City contest and an assist in the then No. 11 Fort Hays victory. Goalkeeper Brett Niedzwicki is coming off a five save performance in which the Bearcats took Lewis to overtime.
The Prairie Stars
Illinois-Springfield currently sits third in the GLVC standings posting a 4-1-1 conference mark. Mario Falsone leads the offense with three goals. Rhys Wallace follows with five points on two goals and a helper. Tommy Geile has seen all 740 minutes in net posting three shutouts on a .814 save percentage.
The Hawks
Quincy heads into the weekend looking to move up in the GLVC standings as they sit in tenth place. The Hawks offensive unit receives a balanced production from Aubrey Reis and Chris McArthur with McArthur adding two game-winning goals. Nate Griffin has recorded all 630 minutes of play in net posting two shutouts on a .769 save percentage.
