(Springfield, Ill., September 29) – The McKendree University men's soccer team fell to 2-6 overall and 0-6 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) as they dropped a 2-0 contest to the University of Illinois-Springfield this evening.

The Prairie Stars held the shot advantage in the contest 14-9 putting six on frame to the Bearcats two.

Illinois-Springfield jumped out to an early 1-0 led in the fourth minute of play when Naba Alzhyri intercepted a pass and converted the opportunity to a goal.

The Prairie Stars would add another in the 66 minute of play to cap the 2-0 led.

James Stone (Eastbourne, England/Bede's Senior School) paced the Bearcat offense taking three shots with one on goal.

Brett Niedzwiecki (Collinsville, IL/Collinsville High School) played all 90 minutes for McKendree collecting four saves.

The men's soccer team is back in action on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. when the team travels to Quincy University.
