(LEBANON, Ill., Jan. 18) – The McKendree University women's hockey team is gearing up for two road games this weekend against the University of Michigan. The teams take the ice in Ann Arbor, Mich. at 10 p.m. on Friday night, followed by a Saturday contest at 4:30 p.m.
Please note that the game scheduled for Sunday at 11 a.m. against Davenport University has been cancelled due to Davenport cancelling all athletic events for this weekend.
The Bearcats are 9-4-1 overall on the season, and 7-4-1 in American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) contests. In the most recent ACHA women's D1 rankings McKendree jumped into the No. 8 position, which marks the highest ranking the Bearcats have held in the two year history of the program. In ACHA women's D1 the top eight teams make the playoffs and earn a chance to win the National Championship.
Sophomore forward Domenika Reusche leads the Bearcats in scoring with five goals and four assists for nine points. Freshman forward Dakota Peterson is second in points on the team with four goals and four assists for eight points. Backstopping McKendree in nine games this season, sophomore goaltender Jazmin Malinowski has a record of 5-3-1 with two shutouts, a goals-against average of 1.22, and a save percentage of 0.955.
