(CANTON, Mich., Jan. 19) – The McKendree University women's hockey team fell to the University of Michigan on Friday night by a final score of 1-0.
The Bearcats fall to 9-5-1 overall on the season. Both teams were held off of the scoreboard through the first two periods, with each team killing off a penalty in the second. McKendree killed off another penalty in the third period, but were unable to kill off another as the Wolverines scored the lone goal of the game on the power play in the third period.
Sophomore goaltender Jazmin Malinowski got the nod to start in goal, turning aside 26 of 27 shots on goal for a save percentage of 0.963.
McKendree and the University of Michigan face off again on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. in Canton, Mich.
