(LEBANON, Ill., Jan. 31)--
The McKendree University men's basketball team will travel to Indianapolis and the greater Chicago area for two Great Lakes Valley Conference contests this week. The Bearcats will open their road trip with a Thursday evening game at the University of Indianapolis. The Bearcats will then head to Romeoville, Ill., to cap the weekend with a Saturday afternoon contest at Lewis University.

Just past the midway point of the GLVC schedule, McKendree sits at 11-9 overall and 2-8 in league play. The Bearcats were defeated in a pair of conference home games last week by William Jewell College and the University of Southern Indiana. In Saturday's contest, an 86-56 defeat at the hands of Southern Indiana, Justin Blanks and Nate Bethel each scored 14 points to lead the way for McKendree. Malcolm Mabry registered his fifth double-double of the year with 11 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Mabry matched a season-best in rebounds in Saturday's tilt.

Blanks regained the GLVC lead in scoring at 18.8 points per game, while Mabry solidified his spot in the top five in rebounding. Mabry holds down the No. 4 position in rebounding at 9.5 RPG. Nate Michael -- who joined the Bearcats' 1,000-point club during Thursday's meeting against William Jewell -- has taken over third place in the conference in free throw percentage at an even 86 percent.

Both of McKendree's GLVC victories this season have come on the road. The Bearcats opened league play with a 100-91 win at Drury University back on Dec. 2 before posting a 74-59 triumph at the University of Illinois Springfield on Jan. 15.

Following Saturday's game at Lewis, McKendree will return to the Harry M. Statham Sports Center to begin its final three-game home stand of the regular season. The Bearcats will host Bellarmine University on Thursday, Feb. 8.

ABOUT UINDY
The Greyhounds bring a 12-7 overall record and a 6-5 GLVC ledger into Thursday's meeting with McKendree. After knocking off then No. 5-ranked Bellarmine on Thursday, UIndy suffered a 64-61 setback on Saturday at Illinois Springfield. The Greyhounds feature a balanced attack with four players averaging in double figures. Tate Hall leads the way at 14.9 PPG, while Ajay Lawton is close behind at 14.5 PPG. Lawton has also handed out 64 assists on the year to lead the team. Eric Davidson, who is averaging 13.2 PPG, has hit 48 three-pointers and is shooting 45.7 percent from beyond the arc. Jesse Kampson rounds out the list of double-digit scorers for UIndy at 12.9 PPG. Kampson is also the Greyhounds' leading rebounder at 5.7 RPG.

UIndy won last year's meeting with McKendree, 88-70, on Jan. 19, 2017 at the Statham Center. Justin Blanks came off the bench to drop in a game-high 26 points for the Bearcats while Nate Michael added 16 points and three steals.

ABOUT LEWIS
The Flyers begin the week with a season record of 10-11 and a 5-6 mark in conference play. Lewis will host the University of Missouri-St. Louis Thursday night ahead of the Bearcats' visit to Neil Carey Arena. Cristen Wilson shows the way for the Flyers in the scoring column at 17 PPG. Wilson is shooting 55.3 percent from the field and 77.1 percent from the foul line. In addition, Wilson is the fifth-best rebounder in the GLVC at 8.6 RPG. Delaney Blaylock is close behind Wilson on the scoring ledger at 16.8 PPG. Blaylock is tied for the team lead with 43 assists and holds the Flyers' top spot with 22 steals.

Lewis defeated McKendree 96-83 in the lone match-up last season between the two teams on Jan. 26, 2017 in Romeoville, Ill. Nate Michael scored a team-high 21 points for the Bearcats while Nolan Gerling added 19 points. Michael Jackson became the 50th player in program history to score 1,000 points with a first-half three-pointer and closed the night with 14 points.
