(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 18) – The McKendree University women's volleyball team will resume Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) competition at Quincy University Friday night at 7 p.m. and then at Truman State University Saturday at 3 p.m.
The Bearcats are 12-10 overall on the season after the Midwest Region Volleyball Crossover and 6-4 in the GLVC. McKendree defeated Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) opponent Davenport University 4-1 and then fell to Ashland University, also from the GLIAC, 3-2 in the first day of the Crossover. The Bearcats then swept Malone University from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC), 3-0 on the second day to go 2-1 at the Crossover.
McKendree's offense is powered by freshman middle blocker
Hope Gramly (Prosper, TX/Prosper) and junior outside hitter
Kelly Voss (St. Rose, IL/Mater Dei). Gramly has recorded 271 kills on the season this far and Voss is close behind with 264. Senior setter
Morgan Melchert (Mt. Vernon, IA/Mt. Vernon) sets up the Bearcats for these attacks, 873 total times this season to be exact.
Defensive leaders for McKendree are junior libero
Alissa Zeitelhack (Overland Park, KS/Blue Valley West), Voss, junior outside hitter
Elle Russell (Festus, MO/St. Pius X), and Melchert. Zeitelhack leads the pack with 269 total digs, Voss is next with 252, Russell follows with 230 total digs, and Melchert isn't far behind with 212. At the net for the Bearcats' defense are junior middle blocker
Megan Marks (Colgate, WI/Germantown), who has 85 total blocks, and Gramly, who has 78. Gramly leads the defense in solo blocks with 13 on the season.
The Bearcats will return home for Alumni Weekend to face the University of Indianapolis on Friday Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. in the Harry Statham Sports Center. They will celebrate Senior Night the following day on Oct. 27 at 3 p.m. as they take on the Flyers of Lewis University.
