(SPRINGFIELD, Ill., Oct. 4) – The McKendree University men's soccer team head out on the road this weekend to take on the University of Illinois Springfield at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 5 and then Quincy University at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 7 in Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) play.
The Bearcats currently rank third in the GLVC standings with a 6-2-1 overall and 4-1-1 GLVC record. Offensively, McKendree is led by sophomore midfielder
Eddie Davis (Arundel, England/Amersham College) with eight points through nine games, followed by sophomore forward
James Stone (Eastbourne, England/Bede's Senior School) with seven points. Defensively, sophomore goalkeeper
Brett Niedzwiecki (Collinsville, IL/Collinsville High School) will make his first start in goal for the Bearcats this season after goalkeeper
Alvaro Cortazar (Asuncion, Paraguay/Santa Teresa de Jesus) was awarded a red card in the final minutes of McKendree's loss to Southern Indiana.
The University of Illinois Springfield are currently 4-4-2 overall and 3-2-1 in the GLVC after most recently falling to Bellarmine University 2-0 on Sunday, September 30.
The Hawks of Quincy are currently 4-5-1- overall and 3-2-1 in GLVC play after most recently suffering a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the University of Indianapolis on Sunday, September 30.
