(New York, NY., Nov. 17) – The McKendree University men's water polo team fell behind early and were unable to comeback in the 18-6 loss against Johns Hopkins University.
The Bearcats will face the Explorers from La Salle University on Sunday morning in the seventh place game at 9:00a.m. ET.
Johns Hopkins jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the first period. The Bearcats got on the board halfway through the second period with goal from junior
Joseph Mahan (Corinth, TX/John H Guyer High School). Freshman
Matthew Haygood (Chino Hills, CA/Chino Hills High School) added in another goal but McKendree would trail 10-2 heading into halftime.
Mahan and Haygood added their second goals of the game in the third period. The Bluejays would extend their lead to 14-4 after the third period. Haygood netted his third of the game with three minutes left in the game and freshman
Ben Brauer (Duisburg, Germany/Steinbart-Gymnasium Duisburg) capped off the scoring for the Bearcats. Johns Hopkins would go on to win 18-6 over McKendree.
