(Lebanon, Ill., Feb. 22) -- After playing five straight matches at home, McKendree men's volleyball will head north to the Chicago area to take on a pair of top ten nationally ranked Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association opponents. They will play the Loyola Chicago Ramblers on Friday night, which will be streamed live online for free on WatchESPN, before heading to Romeoville for a match-up with the Lewis University Flyers on Saturday.

The Bearcats have won their last three matches, including a four set victory against the Quincy University Hawks on Monday, and are currently 6-6 overall and 3-1 in conference play on the season. McKendree will be looking for its first wins against Loyola and Lewis in program history this weekend.

Senior middle Brendan Schmidt (O'Fallon, MO/Fort Zumwalt West) is hitting currently .484, which leads the MIVA, and he is also the top blocker for the Bearcats, averaging 1.11 total per set. Schmidt, Patrick Ross, Jared Wilcox and Nolan Rueter are all averaging around 2.5 kills per set, while junior libero Zach Thompson is ranked fifth in the conference in digs, averaging just over two per set on the year.

#8 Loyola University Chicago Ramblers (10-3, 3-1 MIVA)
The Ramblers split a pair of MIVA matches on the road this past weekend, defeating Fort Wayne in five sets and falling to Ball State 3-1. They are led offensively by junior outside hitter Collin Mahan, who is ranked first in the conference in kills, collecting 179 so far on the season. Freshman setter Garrett Zolg leads Loyola in digs, with 2.40 per set, and assists, with 10.15 per set.

#9 Lewis University Flyers (9-4, 3-1 MIVA)
The Flyers also defeated Fort Wayne and lost to Ball State over the weekend, as they are travel partners with Loyola Chicago. Red-shirt sophomore Ryan Coenen is averaging 3.39 kill per set, which leads his team on the season. Two red-shirt Freshman for Lewis, Tyler Mitchem and TJ Murray, are both averaging over one total block per set, ranking them in the top five in the MIVA in that category.
