(Emporia, KS, Feb. 26) – The McKendree University softball team moved to 7-2 on the 2018 campaign after a 3-0 win and a 5-4 loss to Emporia State University today.

Miranda Gajewski (Kronenwetter, WI/D.C. Everest) doubled down the left field line to give the Bearcats an early 1-0 led. In the fifth
Rebecca Franke (Trenton, Ill./Wesclin) singled to left driving in two runs to take a 3-0 advantage. M Gajewski threw six scoreless innings to pick up her fourth win of the season.
Maci Ingram (Woodlawn, Ill./Nashville Community) closed out the seventh for her first save.

In the first inning
Abbie Bailey (Tinley Park, IL/Andrew) put McKendree on the scoreboard as she stole third and advanced home on a throwing error by the Emporia State catcher. In the bottom half of the inning ESU rallied for five runs.
Haegen Boyer (Eddyville, IA/Eddyville) kicked off McKendree's scoring in the fifth with a double to score Bailey. M Gajewski singled to drive in Boyer and
Paige Hayden (Independence, MO/Fort Osage) reached on an error to cut the deficit to 5-4. McKendree loaded the bases in the sixth but were not able to walk away with any runs.
The softball team is back in action this weekend at the Missouri Southern Tournament when the team takes on Northeastern State University Saturday at 2 p.m.
