(LEBANON, Ill., Feb. 28)--
The McKendree University baseball team will be on the road this weekend for a four-game, non-conference series at Quincy University. The Bearcats and Hawks will play single games Friday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at noon, sandwiched around a doubleheader set for a noon start on Saturday.

McKendree picked up its first win of the 2018 season on Friday in the second game of a twinbill at Maryville University. The Bearcats will bring a 1-6 overall record into its weekend set against Quincy. Following the four games against the Hawks, McKendree will make its season debut at Hypes Field on Wednesday, March 7 against the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

Against Maryville, Matt Klosterman was a force at the plate, hitting .529 with nine hits in 17 at-bats. Klosterman also scored six runs and stole three bases against the Saints. Levi Brening provided the power with two doubles, two home runs and nine RBI in the series. 

On the mound, Jack Strieker collected his first collegiate victory in the Bearcats' 12-3 triumph on Friday. Strieker allowed two earned runs on three hits with eight strikeouts in four innings of work. 

ABOUT QUINCY
The Hawks are currently ranked No. 13 in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll. Quincy is off to a 2-4 start to its 2018 campaign, which includes a pair of losses to No. 6-ranked Delta State University back on Feb. 18. 

Chandler Purcell leads the Hawks with a .462 average. Jeff Hightower already has four home runs and nine RBI through the first six games of the season for Quincy. Troy Wehde has contributed two round-trippers along with seven RBI. On the mound, Nick Stroud is 1-1 with a 3.86 earned-run average in two starts. Stroud also has a team-leading nine strikeouts. Cole Crawford (1-0, 3.00 ERA) has collected the Hawks' other victory this season.
