(LEBANON, Ill., Feb. 28) – The McKendree University women's water polo team is gearing up for five contests this week. The Bearcats are set to take on Chapman University on Thursday at 7 p.m. PST in Orange, CA. McKendree will then head to Claremont, CA to compete in the Convergence Tournament. Friday at 11 a.m. PST the Bearcats will play CalTech, followed up by a contest against the University of La Verne at 4:20 p.m. PST with both games played at Las Flores Park. Saturday, McKendree will play against the University of Redlands at Haldemann Pool at 9 a.m. PST, then head to Las Flores Park for a matchup against Occidental College at 2:20 p.m. PST.
 
McKendree is 4-8 overall on the season, after earning the program's first two Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Varsity level victories last weekend. The Bearcats first CWPA Varsity level win came against Carthage College by a score of 12-5. The following day, McKendree grabbed its second CWPA Varsity level victory with a 17-7 win over Monmouth College.
 
Freshman attacker Emily Westlove leads the Bearcats offense in goals and steals so far this season, scoring 30 times and notching 15 steals. Sophomore attacker Brianna Mullalley leads McKendree in assists with eight on the season, along with 22 goals. Freshman goaltender Crystal Armstrong has guarded the cage for the Bearcats registering 72 saves and 15 steals so far this season.
