Bearcats Pick Up Three Victories at the ONU Invite

(Bourbonnais, Ill., Feb. 4) -- The McKendree University track and field program competed over the weekend at the Olivet Nazarene Invite in Bourbonnais, Illinois. 

Senior Jordyn Looman won the 400m, finishing in a time of 59.21, while freshman TsiTsi Mahachi placed third in the same event. Junior Quincy McSweeney earned the top time in the 800m, as freshman Kaylee Fann also finished in the top five at that distance. Looman, McSweeney and Fann were joined by freshman Kiara Chapman on the 4x400m relay team that took first place.

Senior Melissa Calcara put together a top five GLVC mark in the 60m hurdles, where she finished in second place overall. Junior Kirby Smith was third in the 60m, crossing the line in a time of 7.96. Sophomore Shelby Mourey placed second in the high jump with a mark of 1.62m, while another sophomore, Alexandra Singleton, was fifth in the 1000m, with a time of 3:13.36.

On the men's side, junior DeMontez McCray was second in the 200m (22.43) and fourth in the 60m (8.80). Junior Darren Arzu finished in third place at the 60m hurdles, and Tyler Johnson earned a top five mark of 49.81 at 400m. Junior Lafayette Waters jumped 6.95m, giving him the second best mark in the GLVC this season in the long jump. 

The Bearcats will compete in the Gorilla Classic next weekend at Pittsburg State University in Kansas.
