Women's Lacrosse Set for Three GLIAC Home Contests

(Lebanon, Ill., April 2) -- McKendree women's lacrosse will being looking to end a three game losing streak this week as they welcome in three Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponents to Leemon Field. The Bearcats will take on the #15 nationally ranked University of Indianapolis Greyhounds on Wednesday at 4 pm, Concordia University St. Paul at 6 pm on Friday and the Northern Michigan Wildcats on Sunday at noon.

The Bearcats lost a pair of closely contested GLIAC road games over the weekend at Tiffin and #13 Grand Valley State. McKendree is currently 2-7 overall on the season and 1-3 in conference play, placing them fifth in the GLIAC standings.

The Bearcats boast two explosive athletes on offense in Paige Salthouse (St. Louis, MO/Ursuline Academy) and Dana DiPasquale (St. Charles, MO/Barat Academy). They are currently tied for second in the GLIAC scoring race with 41 points each, with Salthouse leading McKendree in goals with 33 and DiPasquale recording a team best 18 assists.

Defensively, the Bearcats are led by junior midfielder Hannah Sugarman (Holden, MA/Wachusett Regional), who has picked up 38 ground balls and has caused 21 turnovers, leading McKendree in both categories. Sophomore goaltender Collin Patton (Wildwood, MO/Eureka) has started all nine games in net, earning a 16.82 goals against average and .380 save percentage.
 

#15 University of Indianapolis Greyhounds (6-3, 2-2 GLIAC)
The Greyhounds suffered a slight set-back over the weekend, dropping two GLIAC contests at Grand Valley State and Tiffin. They have been stellar on defense this season, allowing just 9.22 goals against to lead the conference.

Freshman attacker Lauryn Hardoy leads her team in points with 32 (17 goals and 15 assists), while sophomore midfielder Delaney Davidson is the top goal scorer for the Greyhounds, cashing in 24 on the year.

Sophomore defender Riley McClure has picked up a team leading 27 ground balls and 26 caused turnovers. Junior goalie Lauren Granville has appeared in eight games for Indianapolis, and leads the GLIAC in goals against average (9.99).

The Bearcats and Greyhounds have met six times previously, with McKendree leading the series 5-1.
 

Concordia University St. Paul Golden Bears (5-3, 2-2)
The Golden Bears are currently in a tie for third place in the GLIAC standings with the University of Indianapolis, following a victory against Davenport last Thursday.

Sophomore attacker Maddie Hentges leads the Concordia offense with 18 goals and 10 assists for 28 points, while sophomore midfielder Kailey Heinl has collected a team-high 20 goals on the season.

Freshman defender Lexi Stanley leads the Golden Bears in caused turnovers, forcing 12 through eight games. Sophomore goaltender Katie Lottsfeldt leads her team in ground balls this year, picking up 29 total.

McKendree defeated Concordia St. Paul last season by a score of 19-2 in the schools only previous match-up.
 

Northern Michigan University Wildcats (1-6, 0-4)
The Wildcats are in their second season as a program, and currently sit in last place in the GLIAC standings following a loss to Davenport University on Sunday.

Freshman attacker Emily Dvorak leads NMU in scoring, posting 23 goals and six assists. Sophomore midfielder Graison Ringlever has picked up a team leading 23 ground balls on defense, while senior Brianna Bangle and freshman Emily Karbaum have split time in net for the Wildcats.

This will be the second meeting all time between McKendree and Northern Michigan, with the Bearcats winning 20-1 last season at Leemon Field.
