(LEBANON, Ill., Sep 30) – The McKendree University men's soccer team was edged out by the University of Southern Indiana Sunday evening 2-1, their first loss in Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) play this season. The Bearcats now sit at 6-2-1 overall and 4-1-1 in GLVC play.
 
The second half held all scoring action, beginning with back-to-back goals from the Screaming Eagles in the 50^th and 52^nd minutes. McKendree answered back in the 85^th minute of regulation courtesy of an Eddie Davis (Arundel, England/Amersham College) free kick, however the Bearcats were unable to even the score-line after 90 minutes. Sophomore goalkeeper Alvaro Cortazar (Asuncion, Paraguay/Santa Teresa de Jesus) made a total of five saves in the contest, but was awarded a red card in the final minutes of play.
 
The men's soccer team looks to rebound on Friday, October 5 at 7:30 p.m. when they face off against the University of Illinois Springfield in Springfield, Ill.
