(LEBANON, Ill., Sep 30) – The McKendree University men's soccer team was edged out by the University of Southern Indiana Sunday evening 2-1, their first loss in Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) play this season. The Bearcats now sit at 6-2-1 overall and 4-1-1 in GLVC play.
The second half held all scoring action, beginning with back-to-back goals from the Screaming Eagles in the 50
th and 52
nd minutes. McKendree answered back in the 85
th minute of regulation courtesy of an
Eddie Davis (Arundel, England/Amersham College) free kick, however the Bearcats were unable to even the score-line after 90 minutes. Sophomore goalkeeper
Alvaro Cortazar (Asuncion, Paraguay/Santa Teresa de Jesus) made a total of five saves in the contest, but was awarded a red card in the final minutes of play.
The men's soccer team looks to rebound on Friday, October 5 at 7:30 p.m. when they face off against the University of Illinois Springfield in Springfield, Ill.
