(LEBANON, Ill., Sep 30) – The McKendree University women's soccer team defeated the University of Southern Indiana Sunday afternoon 2-1, adding another win to their Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) record. The Bearcats now sit at 7-1-1 overall and 4-1-1 in GLVC play.
 
In a high intensity match that saw a total of 31 shots, the McKendree offense proved once again to make the most of their opportunities. After the Screaming Eagles took the lead in the 69^th minute, senior midfielder Jane Skaggs (St. Charles, MO/Duchesne) put the Bearcats back in the game after scoring on a long-range free kick opportunity with just 10 minutes remaining in regulation. Then in the final minute of overtime play, freshman Riley Ross (Springfield, IL/Rochester High School) scored her first goal of the season and the definitive game-winner off an assist from junior midfielder Kate Bixby (O'Fallon, MO/Fort Zumwalt North). Defensively, goaltender Zoe Brochu (Ajax, Ontario, Canada/Pickering) gave another stellar performance, making a total of seven saves, three of which came in the overtime periods.
 
The women's soccer team will return to action Tuesday, October 2 at 6:00 p.m. as they take on Lindenwood University-Belleville at home in a non-conference matchup.
