(LEBANON, Ill., Sep 7) – The McKendree University women's soccer team wins in their first home match of the season after defeating the Chargers of Alabama Huntsville 2-0.
 
Once again, the Bearcats showed their offensive firepower by outshooting Alabama Huntsville 19 to seven, two of which finding the back of the net for McKendree. Amanda Williams (Rochester, IL/Rochester) scored her first goal of the season in the 18^th minute of the contest, followed by a 25^th minute goal from Alynnah O'Leary (Collinsville, IL/Collinsville) off of a spectacular assist from Kate Bixby (O'Fallon, MO/Fort Zumwalt North). Goaltender Zoe Brochu (Ajax, Ontario, Canada/Pickering) and the Bearcat defense turned away all offensive opportunities for the Chargers, leading to Brochu's second consecutive shutout that included four saves.
 
The women's soccer team improves to 2-0 on the season and will be back in action September 14 at 5 p.m. in Liberty, Mo as they take on William Jewell College in their first Great Lakes Vally Conference match of the season.
