(LEBANON, Ill., Jan. 16)--The McKendree University men's basketball team remains at home this week to host a pair of games in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. The Bearcats will take on Drury University Thursday evening before closing out their four-game home stand Saturday afternoon versus Missouri S&T. Both games will air live on the Bearcat Sports Network at

McKendree put together one of its best offensive performances of the 2018-19 season on Sunday in a 92-67 victory at home against the University of Missouri-St. Louis. The Bearcats knocked down a season-high 14 three-pointers and shot 54.1 percent as a team in cruising to the win. Six different players scored in double figures for McKendree, led by a 23-point effort from
Nate Michael (St. Joseph, IL/St. Joseph-Ogden). Sunday's win pushed the Bearcats to a 7-7 overall record while moving to 3-2 in the GLVC.
Michael continues to lead the Bearcats in scoring at 16.1 PPG, and ranks eighth in the league in the category. Michael is also the top free throw shooting in the GLVC entering this week, hitting 91.5 percent of his tries from the line.
Nolan Gerling (Germantown, IL/Mater Dei) is second on the squad in scoring at 11.2 PPG and leads McKendree in rebounding at 5.7 RPG. Gerling is 12th in the conference in rebounding, and has moved into 10th among all GLVC players in field goal percentage at 54.8 percent.
Against UMSL, Michael hit a season-high five three-pointers. His final one of the night gave him 200 in his McKendree career, making him the 10th player in program history to make at least 200 trifectas for the Bearcats. Michael also pushed his career scoring total to 1,382 points, which ranks 29th all-time at McKendree.
Giovanni Offard (Freeport, IL/Freeport), who dished out a career-high nine assists in the win over UMSL, is now fifth in the GLVC in assists per game at 4.71. Offard is also second in the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio.
As a team, McKendree leads the GLVC in fewest turnovers per game. The Bearcats are averaging 10.4 turnovers per outing, as the team had just seven miscues in their victory over UMSL on Sunday.
Following the Saturday contest against Missouri S&T, McKendree will be on the road for its next two games. The Bearcats will visit Quincy University on Thursday, Jan. 24, before heading to Truman State University next Saturday, Jan. 26.
ABOUT DRURY
The Panthers bring an 8-8 overall record and a 2-3 GLVC mark to Lebanon. Drury had dropped three straight contests before rolling to a 93-54 win at home against Lewis University last Saturday. In their three losses prior to the Lewis triumph, the Panthers fell in the three games by a combined total of four points. In fact, Drury has six losses of three or fewer points among its eight setbacks in 2018-19.
Conley Garrison is the leading scorer for Drury this season at 16.9 PPG. He is sixth in the conference in scoring, and is fourth in the league in assists per game at 5.19. Allen Billinger is second on the Panthers' squad in scoring at 11.6 PPG. Andrew Ballock, who is third on the team in scoring at 9.5 PPG, is the Panthers' top rebounder at 5.4 RPG.
Drury is 4-1 against McKendree since the Bearcats became members of the GLVC in 2012-13. However, McKendree won last season's meeting, 100-91, back on Dec. 2, 2017 in Springfield, Mo.

ABOUT MISSOURI S&T
The Miners are 2-10 overall and 0-4 in conference play prior to its Thursday night game at the University of Illinois Springfield. After winning its first two games of the 2018-19 campaign, Missouri S&T has lost its last 10, including a 73-58 setback against Lewis last Thursday in Rolla, Mo.
Four different Missouri S&T players are averaging in double figures, led by Jordan Newt at 14.3 PPG. Newt has made a team-leading 26 three-pointers and is also shooting 90 percent from the free throw line. C.J. Hedgepeth is next on the scoring list for the Miners at 12.4 PPG and has a team-high 39 assists. Also scoring in double figures for Missouri S&T are Dulan Scott (11.6 PPG) and Juwan Miller (10.3 PPG). At 5.6 RPG, Miller is the leading rebounder this season for the Miners.
McKendree and Missouri S&T have met five times since the start of the 2013-14 season. The Miners own a slim 3-2 edge in the series, but the Bearcats are 2-0 at the Statham Center in that span. Missouri S&T won last season's meeting, 93-87, on Feb. 22, 2018 in Rolla, Mo.
Justin Blanks (Akron, OH/Norton) netted 30 points for McKendree, while
Nate Bethel (Nassau, Bahamas/St. Louis Christian Academy) added 16 points and
Nate Michael (St. Joseph, IL/St. Joseph-Ogden) chipped in with 15 points.
