(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 11) – The McKendree University men's water polo team will head to Monmouth, Ill. for three Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) matchups. The Bearcats will face Gannon University and the host, Monmouth College on Saturday to open up MAWPC play, concluding on Sunday with Mercyhurst University.
Gannon is slated for 12:30pm and Monmouth is scheduled for a 6:00pm start on Saturday and Mercyhurst is set for 9:00am on Sunday.
The Bearcats enter the weekend at 4-8 overall on the season after going 2-4 during last week's trip to California.
Offensively, the Bearcats are primarily led by senior
Joseph Mahan (Corinth, TX/John H Guyer High School) and sophomore
Matthew Haygood (Chino Hills, CA/Chino Hills High School). Mahan leads with 26 goals on the season after scoring 14 times over the past week. Haygood follows closely behind with 25 goals on the season.
About Monmouth
The Fighting Scots are still in search of their first win, coming in at 0-5. In this year's previous matchup, McKendree handled Monmouth by the score of 22-5. Monmouth is led by Joseph Addison and Jesus Aguirre who both have 11 goals on the season.
About Gannon
The Golden Knights sport an 8-1 record overall and 3-0 mark in MAWPC play. The Bearcats ended Gannon's hopes of an undefeated season last year at the MAWPC-West Region Tournament.
About Mercyhust
The Lakers come in with a 4-10 overall record. McKendree went 1-1 against Mercyhust during last season's matchups.
