(LIBERTY, Mo., Oct. 13) – The McKendree women's soccer team defeated the Cardinals of William Jewell College 1-0 this Sunday Afternoon. The Bearcats are now 9-2-1 overall and 7-1-1 in Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) play.
The lone goal of the match came just before the end of the first half in the 43
rd minute of play, as freshman midfielder
Paula Melsheimer (Reil, Germany/Gymnasium Traben-Trarbach) sent a 25-yard screamer past the Cardinal goalkeeper. Overall, McKendree set the standard of the match, outshooting William Jewell 27 to 11. Senior goalkeeper
Zoe Brochu (Ajax, Ontario, Canada/Pickering High School) made five saves in her seventh shutout of the 2019 season.
McKendree will be back in action this Friday, October 18 when they return to Leemon Field to play host to visiting GLVC foe Lewis University at 5 p.m.
